I like people. Talk to me in English o háblame en español.
I have a friend who stayed in our college’s town for the summer. She just texted me and told me that our university’s Internet is now blocking DeviantArt and Tumblr. WTF?!!? They started at the beginning of last school year by blocking all “porn”, which included any site with penises and vaginas. This same friend that texted me was taking a human sexuality class for her psychology major and had to go off campus to do most of her homework because of that. We’re all adults and should have the choice to look at what we want. They should let us be responsible to go where we want to go on the Internet. You can take the porn, but YOU CAN’T TAKE MY TUMBLR!!
Here are some late pieces that I made for my art show! Hope you like them!
These are from a friend of mine at my university. He’s great! You should go check out the rest of his stuff. My favorites of these are the first and the third ones.
These are a few (less graphic) pictures of our school’s annual Whole Milk Two Mile. My friend and I dressed up as Sailor Venus and Sailor Uranus (on a college budget and little time). I ended up being Sailor Venus and my friend was Uranus, but it originally was supposed to be the opposite. I wish I had been Sailor Uranus. My friend ran while I poured milk for her. She only ended up running a mile before she pulled herself from the race. Then she puked…a lot. It was actually really impressive. While rubbing her back as she was hunched over, I was thinking, “Uranus…Stomach…PURGE!!” and other attack names.
One cool/dumb thing about the night though was a friend of mine realized instantly that we were characters from Sailor Moon. I was excited to find another moonie at my university, especially when she went on and on about how she LOVED Sailor Moon. She talked about how she had the dolls at her house. I got more excited.
Then she said, “Oh yeah, what’s the guy’s name in the show?”
“Tuxedo Mask?” I answered.
“Yeah, him! The guy with the rose!!”
Facepalm
Then she goes on to talk about how Sailor Saturn’s outfit is yellow and orange.
People amaze me sometimes. I’m done with life for the night. Good night.
Whole Milk Two Milk…Sailor Moon Style
So tomorrow is an annual event at my university called the Whole Milk Two Milk. Everyone in the race drinks a cup (8oz.) of whole milk right before the race. Then they all run a lap (1/4 of a mile) and drink another cup of milk. This continues for 8 laps (two miles). Every runner throws up multiple times, but there is great glory to whoever wins. Smelly, lactic glory. Most of the runners dress up in ridiculous costumes to add to the fun. Each runner also has what we call a milk maid (or milk whore) that pours the milk while the runner is doing the lap. It isn’t uncommon for the milk maid to dress up as well.
For instance:

This is my best friend (milk maid) and the guy that ran. He even went so far as to dye his milk green both to match and to see where he vomited once the race ended.
Anyways, the fun part is that one of my good friends will run this tomorrow. I will be her milk maid. We are dressing up as Sailor Moon characters! I’m not sure if it will be pure awesomeness or pure terror to have Sailor Venus running around an oval drive while puking milk everywhere while Sailor Uranus is pouring her milk and holding her hair back and cheering while she’s puking and drinking at the same time. But it will happen. And it will be worth it. I’ll try to get some pictures tomorrow to post.
My week thus far…good and bad
THE BAD NEWS:
Sunday: Accidentally said “Tegno cerveza” instead of “Tengo cerezas” while talking with my roommate (Rebekah) and her fiancee, who only speaks Spanish. This is the difference between “I have beer” and “I have cherries”.
Monday: I locked Rebekah and myself out of our apartment building after we swam. We had to wait outside for 30 minutes for another roommate to come open the door for us. We waited by laying our towels on the grass and sunbathing, although it was a strange place to do so.
Tuesday (today): Rebekah and I are both sick. I went to the doctor, and I have strep throat. She hasn’t gone to the doctor, but we’re hoping that she doesn’t have it too.

THE GOOD NEWS:
I talked to my university’s swim coach yesterday and swam for him, and he wants me on next year’s team!! I can’t really swim fast, but he said that I’m great for a beginner, which was really encouraging. I’ll basically start off in the third of three teams, but I think if I work hard enough I could make it to the second team. The people in the first team are basically people who have been swimming since they were ten or younger and could go to the Olympics this year or in 2016, so I doubt I’ll make it on that team. But I’ll also be a manager for the team as well as a swimmer, which I’m super excited about! And since I speak Spanish really well and English as my first language, I’ll be a translator for the team since we have so many Hispanics! All of this is still like a dream to me!

The past day and a half have felt like a lifetime. And I still don’t know what to do or what to think.
My friend. You will be forever missed. Goodbye for now, Ivan. I’ll see you later.
RIP Ivan.
El día y medio que han pasados han sentido como una vida. Y todavía no sé lo que hacer ni de lo que pensar.
Mi amigo. Para siempre te extrañaré. Adios para ahora, Iván. Nos vemos.
DEP Iván
I can’t sleep tonight. I can’t stop thinking about my friend, his dead brother, and their family (who actually now live in Argentina, not Spain). Talking to my friend more tonight, I was reminded that his brother to him was not only his closest brother and his best friend, but also his mentor and rival in swimming. As he talked about his brother being his rival and how that was the thing he was missing the most about him, my mind automatically jumped to Sailor Lead Crow and Sailor Aluminum Siren. I’d post pictures but I’m on my phone, sorry guys. My heart is broken for my best friend’s pain. May you be in heaven right now, my friend Iván. And may God give comfort to Mateo and his family.
My best friend’s brother died a few hours ago in a freak accident after swim practice. Please pray for my friend and his family. They’re from Spain so my friend is without his family (his brother died here…they both went to my university) and his family is at home in Spain. We’re both heartbroken and he’s trying to make plans with his family about what to do. I don’t know what to do right now.
So my university’s men’s swimming team won the NAIA National Championship last night. I usually don’t care about sports at all, but swimming is my favorite so I have some interest in it. But I decided to go to two nights of the competition because I have a ton of friends on the team and I am acquaintances with most of the others. They also beat a few national time records! But I still think the coolest part of the whole thing is that this is the first year for my university to have a swim team, and they went on to win nationals!! Here’s a few photos from the last night of the competition.
